Showcasing Beverages for Brain & Mood Health

After they created Koia, a plant-based protein drink in 2013, co-founders Maya French and Dustin Baker came back last year and launched HappyPop Inc., Culver City, Calif., with a sparkling line of “mood boosting energy drinks.” Varieties include Tangerine Dream, Rainbow Drip, and Ginger Spice.

Ingredients include the adaptogen Mcununa pruriens (dopabean) also known as “magic velvet bean.” Additionally, the drinks include 100mg of organic green coffee bean, real fruit juice, apple cider vinegar (digestive aid) and 100% RDA of vitamins C and D3. HappyPop is available online at $35.99 for a 12-pack.

Boost Mood, Energy

Last fall saw TRIP Drink Ltd., New York, N.Y., partner on a new TRIP Mindful Blend Calm drink in collaboration with Calm, a consumer mental health company. The 12oz offering debuted in Cucumber Mint flavor (since updated to Melon Cucumber) and every US customer could scan on-can QR code for a complimentary three-month Calm Premium membership. With a subscription, consumers get access to Calm’s full app-based library of content from a range of experts and celebrity voices to help them sleep more, stress less, and live better.

TRIP says its drinks feature Lion’s Mane, 120mg magnesium, ashwagandha, and L-Theanine. Additional TRIP varieties include Peach Ginger, Raspberry Orange Blossom and Elderflower Mint. Each can contains only 29 calories or less, with 0g of added sugar.

Keep Calm

Known for its wellness-boosting beverages made with chaga mushrooms, Renude, Los Angeles, introduced Reishi Cacao as “a supercharged hot chocolate.” Officials said it’s formulated to deliver calming effects, stress relief and immune support. Ingredients include organic Reishi mushrooms; raw, sun-dried Peruvian cacao; organic coconut sugar, and monk fruit sweetener.

Renude’s Reishi Cacao sells online in a 10-pack box for $29.99; in a 15-serving bag for $34.99; and a 30-serving bag at $44.99.

Celsius Holdings, Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., used last summer’s NACS Show 2024 to introduce two varieties to its 16oz CELSIUS ESSENTIALS line: Watermelon Ice and Grape Slush.

Celsius says ESSENTIALS products feature a patented METAPLUS blend and added aminos for physical and cognitive performance. The company says METAPLUS includes green tea, epigallocatechin gallate, caffeine, guarana seed extract, taurine, and ginger root extract.

Energy, Focus

Last fall saw DrinkBrez LLC, West Palm Beach, Fla., extend its BREZ functional beverage with FLOW, which features Lion’s Mane adaptogenic mushrooms. The 12oz product is free from THC and CBD cannabis and features an Italian Lemon and Elderflower flavor. It has just 30 calories and 8g of natural sugar per can.

Soboba Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Jan Jacinto, Calif., introduced RIVR, a six-item line of functional beverages with yerba mate and herbal teas blended with functional mushrooms, hemp-derived THC and adaptogens. SEDC is owned by California’s Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians.

The line includes three functional (0mg THC) and three micro-dosed (5mg THC) options. Flavors include Raspberry Hibiscus (Awaken), Mango Passionfruit (Awaken), Raspberry Hibiscus (Adventure), Mango Passionfruit (Adventure), Blackberry Lavender (Serene) and Blackberry Lavender (Peace). All products are all naturally sweetened with agave nectar (7g) and flavored with real fruit juice, the company notes. Each contains 35 calories a can.

Jump in the RIVR

Silver Star Nutrition, La Crosse, Wis., expanded its mind and mood-boosting Roots Focus supplement line to include convenient stick packs. The stick packs incorporate a blend of four potent mushroom powders to support cognitive function, focus and overall well-being, the company says. Flavors include Strawberry Watermelon, Spicy Pineapple, Blackberry Lavender Lemonade, and Fruit Punch. Each serving contains 0g of sugar, just 20 calories, and is both gluten- and dairy-free with 56 mg of caffeine per serving.
